CapyBidder

FAQ

Questions, answered

What is CapyBidder? +

A platform for running live, round-by-round fundraising auctions. Instead of one winning bid, bidders take turns choosing to Stay In or Exit each round — and the last one standing wins the prize.

How do bidders join? +

Bidders use the CapyBidder app on their phone, browse the active event, and register for the prizes they want. There's no opening bid to beat — just join and play. Registering enters you in the first round, which carries the same per-round fee as every round after it.

Do bidders pay even if they don't win? +

Yes — and that's exactly how the fundraiser works. Each round a bidder chooses to Stay In carries a small fixed fee, starting with the round they join, and those fees are real, non-refundable contributions to the nonprofit. Only one bidder wins each prize, but everyone who played has given to the cause along the way. We'd encourage organizers to make this clear to bidders up front — it's part of what makes the game feel good to play.

How do organizers run an auction? +

Organizers run everything from a computer browser: create the event, add prizes, start the auction, and follow the live dashboard as it plays out. No special equipment needed.

What does it cost? +

CapyBidder is free during beta. After launch, pricing is 2% of auction gross receipts — with no setup or monthly fees. We only earn when you raise money.

How is the money handled? +

CapyBidder tracks what each bidder owes across the rounds and produces clear invoices and a results summary for every prize, emailed automatically when the auction ends. Built-in card payments are on the way.

What happens if a bidder loses connection on their turn? +

Each turn has a countdown. The app keeps the auction in sync in real time, and if a turn's time runs out, that bidder is treated as exiting so the auction keeps moving fairly.

What devices are supported? +

Organizers use any modern computer browser. Bidders use the CapyBidder app on iOS or Android phones.
