Overview

This policy explains what information CapyBidder collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We aim to collect only what we need to run fundraising auctions well. CapyBidder is intended for adults; it is not directed to anyone under 18.

Information we collect

  • Account information you provide, such as your email address and a display name. Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is not stored by us in readable form.
  • Event and auction activity, including events and prizes you create, the prizes you register for, the Stay-In and Exit choices you make, amounts owed, and results.
  • Notification data, such as the device push token used to alert you when it is your turn or when you win. You can turn notifications off at any time.
  • Technical and usage data needed to operate and secure the Service, such as device and app information and basic, privacy-friendly usage analytics (see "Cookies and analytics" below).
  • Communications you send us, such as email to our support address.

How we use information

  • To provide and operate the Service, including running auctions and showing results.
  • To send transactional messages such as turn notifications and results emails.
  • To produce invoices and summaries of what each bidder owes an organizer.
  • To maintain security, prevent abuse, and improve the Service.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers who help us operate the Service, only as needed to do so:

  • Hosting, database, authentication, and file storage providers that run the backend and the marketing site.
  • An email delivery provider used to send results and summary emails.
  • Push notification services, including the operating-system push services from Apple and Google, used to deliver notifications.

We also share information with organizers as part of running their event (for example, an organizer can see who registered for their prizes and what each bidder owes), and we may disclose information when required by law or to protect the Service and its users.

Cookies and analytics

We use minimal browser storage to keep you signed in. We use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics to understand overall site traffic in aggregate; this does not build advertising profiles of you, and we do not use third-party advertising trackers.

Data retention and security

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the Service and to meet legal obligations, after which we delete or anonymize it. We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, though no method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

Your choices and rights

You can update your profile in the app and disable push notifications at any time. Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information, or to object to certain processing. To make a request, contact us at the address below and we will respond as required by applicable law.

Children

The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us so we can remove it.

International users

We operate the Service from the United States and may process information there. If you use the Service from another country, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other locations where our providers operate.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service or by email, and we will update the date above.
